Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) – Innovation in Energy Efficiency Award
Scottish and Southern Energy regards energy efficiency as an important way to address climate change. At a domestic level our commitment to reduce energy usage can be seen in the better plan product, which incentivises our domestic customers to reduce their electricity and gas usage by up to 20% on the previous year.
Scottish and Southern Energy are interested in establishing what innovative approaches Scottish organisations have been taking in the last year to reduce their energy demand.
Competition rules
Entries are invited from organisations with premises in Scotland that can demonstrate the establishment and success of innovative steps to reduce energy demands in the last 12 months
Entries are limited to one entry per organisation
The closing date for the 2009 Award is 16 January 2009

Creativeness
Evidence of energy reduction
Environmental impact of any solution
Sustainability
Capital cost v energy reduction – preference will be shown to projects that offer good results at low cost

In submitting an entry, please complete a short document in the following format that addresses each of the five following aspects:
1 – Please give a brief description of the project and a note of the energy savings that have been achieved
(Answer – 500-800 words)
2 – Describe how you implemented this reduction, including project management and communications across the firm
(Answer – 300-500 words)
3 – How does the energy reduction solution impact the local environment i.e. does this solution have any environmental tradeoffs?

4 – Describe how this solution is sustainable.
(Answer – 300-500 words)
5 – What are the capital costs of this solution in comparison to energy reduction?
