IAN MARCHANT
Ian was appointed Chief Executive in October 2002 having been Finance Director since 1998. He joined Southern Electric in 1992 and joined the Board on becoming Finance Director in 1996. Previously he worked for Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC), including a two-year secondment to the Department of Energy working on electricity privatisation. Ian is a member and former Chairman of the United Kingdom Business Council for Sustainable Energy, Chairman of the Scottish Climate Change Business Delivery Group, and a member of Ofgem's Environmental Advisory Group, the Coal Forum and of the Energy Research Partnership. Ian is a non-Executive Director of Maggie's Cancer Centres and a non-Executive Director of John Wood Group PLC. He is a member of the Risk and the Nomination committees and is lead Director for the Environment and Corporate Responsibility.
STEPHEN BOYLE
Stephen Boyle is a Principal Policy Officer with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA). He has worked in environmental regulation for 19 years. In 2004 Stephen moved to SEPA’s Air Policy Unit to work on the European Unions Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS). In the intervening years Stephen has been at the forefront of policy issues associated with the scheme for SEPA and Scotland. He has been a member of the UK’s EU ETS Steering Group and Carbon Reduction Commitment Steering Group.
As well as his duties associated with the EU ETS, Stephen represents SEPA’s air policy team on climate change and energy issues; is taking a leading roll in the development of SEPA’s Air Data Strategy; and is acting sponsor of SEPA’s Carbon Trust, Carbon Management Programme.
Stephen is a qualified Chemist and holds a Master of Science in Instrumental Analytical Chemistry for Environmental Monitoring and Process Quality Assurance.
GLYN MOUNTFORD
An experienced industrial engineering and energy professional with knowledge of technical and management aspects of engineering projects, energy efficiency & energy management and renewable technologies. Glyn has held a number of senior positions in large UK and US Industrial corporations including Rolls Royce, GEC Alsthom and Enron Energy Services. Glyn was a founder member of Energy Management Solutions Limited in 2003, and presently manages the Scotland office.
Glyn has been accredited to provided consultancy services on behalf of the Carbon Trust since 2004, and is now also involved in providing consultancy services under the Carbon Trust Carbon Management programme. More recently Glyn has developed the skills required to review the energy performance of buildings as required under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
Holding an engineering degree and MBA, Glyn also holds membership of various professional bodies including the Energy Institute and is a Chartered Energy Engineer.
Glyn has been providing Energy Performance Certification Advice and Direct Services since 2006 and is accredited by CIBSE to provide Commercial Certificates both North and South of the Border
With the ability to work at all levels across an organisation from the operational level to board level Glyn now provides a range of Carbon Consultancy services to a wide range of clients.
JOHN STOCKS
John was appointed the Carbon Trust’s first Manager for Scotland in 2002.
A chartered electrical engineer with extensive experience of both energy utilisation and generation, John joined the Carbon Trust from ScottishPower where he had a variety of responsibilities including combined heat and power and development of a green energy offering. Prior to this John worked for British Steel in a number of project management and operational roles.
Over the last 5 years John has successfully developed the Carbon Trust’s activities in Scotland that are eagerly taken up by Scottish businesses, public sector organisations and academia, helping them to reduce Scotland’s carbon footprint and helping to commercialise the new Scottish low carbon technologies of tomorrow.
PAUL CLARKE
Paul Clarke is the founder of Green-Car-Guide.com and Managing Director of Promote Environmental Communication. Paul, who founded Promote 17 years ago, is one of the UK’s leading communication consultants in the field of environmental issues, sustainability, climate change and renewable energy. However Paul also has a lifetime of knowledge about cars, and it is this unique coming-together of these two backgrounds that has created what, according to consistent feedback from the media, is seen as the UK’s leading website about green cars. Since launching the site last year Paul has been asked to talk about green cars on BBC TV and Radio, as well as working with many other media channels such as ITV, The Daily Mail, Green Futures magazine, and the New Green Consumer Guide.
IAN MURDOCH
Ian is the Scottish Transport Manager at the Energy Saving Trust (EST) and has fulfilled that role since June 2002. He works closely with the Scottish Government to promote the development a number of sustainable transport initiatives. In doing so he has worked with a number of local authorities, businesses, schools and fleet owners and operators.
