Sustainable Travel Information

The Organisers and Sponsors would like to encourage all participants in the event to walk, cycle and use public transport where possible, as part of a healthy lifestyle.

By reducing travel by car this also helps to reduce congestion and pressure on car parking and benefits the environment by cutting down on noise and air pollution, including reducing carbon dioxide emissions which contributes to global warming.

Ayr Racecourse is located on Whitletts Road which is 3 minutes from Ayr Town Centre by car or 10 minutes walk.

The upgraded M77 links to Ayr with Glasgow which is only 40 miles away and Edinburgh is a 90 mile drive.

Complimentary car parking is available onsite close to the main stand

By rail

There is regular, reliable rail service from Ayr to all parts of the country and the station is less than 5 minutes by road or a 12 minute walk from the course.

Please call National Rail enquiries on 08457 484 950 for further information.  You can also access the website from here

By ferry

Ferries run from Troon - a 15 minute drive away - to Belfast, and there are also ferry links from Cairnryan and Stranraer to Ireland.

By air

Prestwick International Airport is only 10 minutes from Ayr and offers flights to a variety of destinations including London, Cardiff, Bournemouth, Dublin and all over Europe.  Many of these are special deal flights.  There is also a direct rail link from Ayr to Prestwick Airport.  Alternatively, Glasgow International is a 30 minute drive.

By bicycle

Please use the following link www.sustrans.org.uk which will take you to the Sustrans website.  In the 'Search our Mapping' box on the right hand side, enter the Racecourse postcode: KA8 0JE in order to obtain a cycle route map to the venue.

The venue does not have a specific point onsite for bicycle parking.  However, they will ensure there is an area available for those who require it but would strongly recommend people bring their own locks to secure them as it will not be a manned point.
