BAE SYSTEMS Surface Fleet Solutions
1048 Govan Road
Govan
Glasgow

BAE Systems Surface Fleet Solutions is proud to support the Scottish Energy and Environment Conference. This is an excellent opportunity for both Govan and Scotstoun yards to bring together their combined resources and demonstrate their commitment to this event and the wider issue of environmental best practice.
BAE Systems Surface Fleet Solutions strives to work with the local community, and in particular engage with primary school pupils to look at ways to protect our environment.
As part of that philosophy and that of business in the community, our employees visit local primary schools and encourage the pupils to get involved in the BAE Systems schools environmental recycling competition. From the environmental poster competition, which was first run 4 years ago, to a theme of recycling and reuse, we have seen a huge number of innovative ideas that have been created from items that would normally be discarded. The latest project is to design a logo for a bag for life, the winning entry is then printed on a bag for life and distributed at the conference. The fact that interest in the competition from schools in and around Glasgow is growing at quite a rapid rate illustrates the emerging interest in environmental affairs at an early stage in the education of our children, by preparing them to take on the environmental concerns of tomorrow.
BAE Systems Surface Fleet Solutions is actively involved with local environmental forums such as Renfrewshire Energy and Environment Forum (REEF), and our valued relationship with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency and Scottish Office assists us in the development of future initiatives.
As a company committed to continually improving our environment, we were proud to receive a Business Commitment to the Environment Award, a VIBES award in the large business category as well as maintain our ISO14001 accreditation, which shows the organisation’s commitment to improving environmental standards.
All of this complements BAE Systems vision as being a systems company innovating for a safer world, using the power of our people, partnerships, and the wider community to achieve our aim. |

Carbon Offsetting Scotland (COS) is a company committed to helping businesses, organisations and individuals calculate, reduce and offset their carbon footprints.
Our offset takes the form of woodland regeneration projects in central Scotland - so we aim to also recreate traditional woodland by planting trees native to the area and in turn encourage the regeneration of wildlife habitats.
What makes us different from many offset projects is that we provide an opportunity to see, touch and feel your offset - and at the same time there are opportunities to learn about other aspects of the environment through our 'tree planting days'. |
